Ramadan and Ash Wednesday
Today, we recognize two meaningful observances taking place this month, Ramadan, which began last night, and Ash Wednesday. While rooted in different faith traditions, both invite deep reflection, renewal, and intentional living.
Ramadan is a sacred month for Muslims centered on fasting, prayer, self-discipline, and acts of charity. It is a time to strengthen compassion, gratitude, and connection to community. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Christian season of Lent and calls individuals to reflect on matters of the heart, encouraging repentance, growth, and meaningful change.
Though these observances are practiced in different ways, they share common values—reflection, humility, generosity, and a commitment to becoming better versions of ourselves. These values resonate strongly within our school community. We, too, strive to grow, to support one another, and to build a culture rooted in empathy and respect.
As a district that celebrates diversity, we honor and acknowledge the beliefs and traditions of our colleagues, students, and families. Today, we recognize those who observe Ramadan and Ash Wednesday, and we affirm our commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all faiths and backgrounds are respected and valued.
