HPS Sustainability Initiatives

  • Hackensack High School's solar operation went live Feb. 5, 2025

The completion of both solar projects was publicly announced at the April 24, 2025 Board of Education during the budget presentation.

The district is utilizing a "Local Government Energy Audit" LGEA to identify and replace equipment with energy-efficient equipment.

The latest LGEA kicked off in Spring 2025. At this time, the collection of data and walk-thru of HVAC equipment is ongoing. This will also be "The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers " ASHRAE Level 2 Energy Audit. From this audit, a recommended Energy Conservation Measure (ECM) will be chosen to improve energy efficiency in all the school buildings.

In May of 2025, the district applied for "Sustainable Jersey PSE&G Energy Efficiency Partnership Program."
