Reimagining Schools
Reimagining Schools Committee 2026–2027
A central resource for district updates, presentations, planning materials, and school-specific information related to the 2026–2027 school year.
About the Committee
In the 2025–2026 school year, Hackensack Public Schools discovered a structural financial deficit that required the district to take substantial measures to achieve fiscal stability. As a result, the district was required to make decisions that will affect all facets of school operations in the coming school year.
Why the committee was created
The Reimagining Schools Committee was created in spring 2026 to:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that provides stakeholders with timely information about expected changes.
- Work collaboratively to generate solutions to anticipated challenges resulting from those changes.
Representative membership
The committee includes a representative cross section of district employees:
- Acting Superintendent of Schools and key Central Office personnel.
- Staff from early childhood, elementary, middle, and high school levels.
- Staff from general education, special education, Bilingual/ESL, administration, and administrative support.
Several members are also Hackensack residents, Hackensack graduates, and/or Hackensack parents.
Committee goals: Maintain high-quality educational experiences while adapting responsibly to changing enrollment, staffing, and budgetary realities. Continue to provide students with a supportive, equitable, and engaging learning environment through collaboration, innovation, community partnerships, and the strategic use of resources.
