District Data Privacy Initiative

  • Data Security

Digital learning has transformed the teaching and learning process by giving both teachers and students easy access to information and resources previously unavailable.  However, this transformation has also raised new concerns regarding the privacy and protection of student data in an interconnected world.

The Hackensack Public Schools District is committed to expanding access to digital resources for students while safeguarding their privacy and data.  To achieve this the District has worked to create procedures for the approval/use of online resources, set security standards for District technology and developed a Data Privacy and Security Policy/Handbook that outlines the types of data that can be collected and how data can be access, collected, stored and, if appropriate, shared.  For more information please view the resources below.

Important Update

  • We are pleased to inform you about a significant step forward in our commitment to data privacy and security for all our students. The Hackensack School District has partnered with 1EdTech to implement the Trusted Apps Management program, ensuring that all third-party applications used in our schools meet the highest standards of privacy and security.

Our newly launched Trusted Apps list, which is embedded below, will feature only those applications that have undergone rigorous reviews and risk assessments. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to protect student data and provide a safe, secure digital learning environment. Please note that our list of approved apps is a work-in-progress. We are continuously reviewing and updating it to include both existing applications and new ones.

We are committed to maintaining transparency and trust with our community as we continue to enhance the safety and quality of our educational technology resources.

Thank you for your continued support.
