• English Language Arts

    Journey’s is a Common Core Standards aligned reading and writing curriculum. Resources include: big books, songs, picture cards and games. This program also uses assessments, which allow the teacher to provide intervention or enrichment.

    • Speaking
    • Listening

    • Students participate in independent, guided, shared reading and writing activities that encourage early literacy skills.  
    • Parents are also encouraged to read to their children EVERYDAY!

    Literacy Centers

    • During reading groups these various centers reinforce skills taught in class.

     

    • Each day your child will be responsible for completing the centers for that day.

     

    • All students will be held accountable and should finish their center work in the time frame given.  

     

    • Some examples of centers:  Computer Center (iRead), Listening Center, Comprehension & Fluency, Word Study, Think & Write, just to name a few!
