Note taking is an important skill because it assists you in concentrating on and understanding the information you are reading. There are different forms of note taking.
Outlining Notes From Text
- Skim the text and label the following components:
o Title
o Introduction
o Subheadings
o First sentence in each paragraph
o Diagrams, charts etc.
o Conclusion
Highlighting
- Use different colors
o Main idea – yellow
o Supporting detail – pink
o Vocabulary words – blue
