Monday, April 28th there will be an NJASK Parent Night at 7:00PM. This event is aimed at supporting our parent community with preparing students for the upcoming assessments that will begin in April. Please come out and gain information regarding your student's education!

Attention parents:
Monday, March 28th the HMS PTA is sponsoring a movie fundraiser for students and their families at the AMC Theater in the Garden State Plaza Mall. Guests will be able to attend an 11AM showing of Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice. Tickets are $22 which includes admission, popcorn, and a drink.
April 6th and 7th the HMS Drama Club will be presenting this year's musical, Alice in Wonderland Jr. Each show begins at 7:00PM. Tickets are $3 each for students and $7 each for adults.

Attention parents: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Thursday, February 4th there will be an Open House event for families of current 3rd and 4th grade students at 6:30PM. The program will provide information on course offerings, programs, and extracurricular activities that are offered at the middle school. Come check it out!
Friday, February 19th all grades will have a Valentine's Day Dance! 5th grade dance will take place in the 7/8 Cafeteria and the 6-8th grade dance will take place in the gymnasium. Tickets to attend are $2. Come hang out and have a great time!
Thursday, February 25th there will be a Black History Month presentation to commemorate the accomplishments, contributions, and historic events of African Americans and others of African ancestry. The event will take palce at 7:00PM in the HMS auditorium.

Attention parents:
Tuesday, December 8th and Thursday, December 10th is back to school night. Teachers will be available during the time frames of 1:15-3:15PM and 6:00-8:00PM on both dates. Please plan to attend and speak to your child's teachers regarding their academics here at HMS.
Friday, December 11th the PTA will be holding a Tricky Tray Fundraiser that will take place in the gymnasium. Doors will open at 6:15PM and basket prizes will be announced at 8:00PM.
Monday, December 14th the HMS Band and Chior will be holding their Winter Concert. The concert will begin at 7:00PM. Come support your fellow Comets!
Saturday, December 5th Dance Evolution will be presenting "The Nutcracker." Doors will open at 5:30PM for a 6:00PM showtime. Admission is $15. Come watch an awesome performance!

Thursday, November 19th is Hispanic Heritage night in the HMS Auditorium. Please come out and learn all about Hispanic culture here at HMS.
Friday, November 20th is the 6th-8th grade Masquerade Dance. This will be held in the 7/8 Cafeteria and is open to students in grades 6-8 ONLY. You must have a permission slip signed in order to attend the dance.

Friday, September 18th is Picture Day. If you are interested in purchasing photographs for your student, please send in the payment and form with your student on this day. You may also pre-order photographs ahead of time online.
Tuesday, September 29th is Back to School Night. The evening will begin at 7 P.M. Parents are asked to go to his/her child's homeroom to view a brief welcome video. During this time parents will also receive a student schedule to follow for the remainder of the evening. Be sure to ask your student for his/her HR number before coming to school. Hope to see you there!

On this website, you and your child will find a wealth of information about their Language Arts and/or Read180 class. You and your child can access homework and classwork assignments, the daily agenda, important announcements and more.
Below I've listed the links that can be found on this site along with a brief description of the information found on that link.
- Daily Agenda: On this link you will find the daily agenda organized by date (the most recent will be at the top). The activities, assignments, do nows, and homework are listed here. If you are absent or have forgotten what was covered in class, this link will provide you with the information needed so you can remain up to date.
- Class Downloads: This link will allow you to access all handouts and assignments (if they are Word documents) that were distributed in class. This is a great resource to utilize if you've misplaced and of the handouts needed for class. The handouts are listed according to the date they were uploaded. The most recent handouts will be found at the bottom of the list.
Please make every use of this website as it allows you and your child to remain informed about all that is going on in Language Arts. It is an excellent resource to utilize when a student is absent, has lost or forgotten materials, and for parents to have "a set of eyes" for what their child is learning in class.
For a copy of our classroom syllabus, grading policy, supply list, and much more, please visit the "Classroom Resources" tab. Be mindful of the CLASS your student is currently enrolled in (Read180 OR Language Arts) when looking at information.
